CELEBRATE CHAMPLAIN marks the 400th anniversary of French explorer Samuel de Champlains journey to the lake that now bears his name.
It's not too late to explore the history, nature and culture of Vermont's Lake Champlain region. Excursions on the Lake - including shipwreck and history tours - will take place through late October. Festivals yet-to-come include art, craft and harvest events. Special 2009 exhibits exploring natural history, Indigenous peoples, and regional commerce and settlement history help to tell the stories of Vermont's ancient and recent past. Art exhibits picture the lake basin region through the eyes of fine regional painters and photographers.
