To scientists and historians it is a geological phenomenon unlike any other on Earth, a treasure trove of biological diversity, an evolutionary roadmap, an anthropological bonanza. ![]() Hikers enjoy the view of the Champlain Basin from atop Mount Philo. To the region’s farmers, merchants and residents it is home, heritage and livelihood. To visitors from across the country and around the globe, the Champlain Basin is an unforgettable symbol of the beauty, vitality and spirit of this part of the world.
