The Making of a Celebration

Through Executive Order, on October 16, 2003, the Lake Champlain Quadricentennial Commission (LCQC) was created to advise the Governor Jim Douglas on the direction, planning, promotion and implementation of heritage tourism activities and programs in the Lake Champlain region, in coordination with similar efforts on the part of the State of New York and the Province of Quebec in order to commemorate the arrival of Samuel de Champlain in 1609 and to celebrate the natural and cultural history of the Lake.

The Vermont Lake Champlain Quadricentennial Commission welcomes your comments and support as we look forward to a spectacular celebration of Lake Champlain, one of Vermont’s most important cultural and natural resources.
