In partnership with the Basin Harbor Club, LCMM will offer guided tours of area shipwrecks throughout the summer, shedding light on the incredible four hundred year legacy of underwater cultural resources of Lake Champlain.

An excursion boat takes participants out on the lake to the site of a historic shipwreck. There, the operator deploys a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) like those used by nautical archaeologists. Participants help to guide the ROV as it explores the details of the site, instantly relaying images to an on-board monitor.

Regularly scheduled tours will take place:

• August 8, 1 pm (in conjunction with LCMM's Small Boat Festival)
• August 11, 4 pm
• September 26, time TBD (in conjunction with LCMM's Archaeology Weekend)
• October 13, 4 pm
• October 17, time TBD (in conjunction with LCMM's Storytelling Festival)

Opened in 1986, the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum (LCMM) is a non-profit museum in Vergennes, Vermont, with a mission to study, preserve and share the rich history and archaeology of Lake Champlain. LCMM has grown from an original historic stone schoolhouse to more than a dozen buildings, a shipyard in Burlington, Vermont, and three full-scale wooden replica vessels.

LCMM provides a broad array of programs and learning experiences. LCMM conducts underwater archaeology on the lake's shipwrecks and shares this research with the public through exhibits, films, publications, replica projects and lectures. LCMM uses shipwrecks, recovered artifacts and collections to tell the stories of the region's vibrant military and cultural history and provide connections to the past for a broad audience from Vermont, New York, Quebec, and beyond.
