The 2009 Champlain Islands Open Farm and Studio Tour

Date: Jul-11-2009 - Jul-12-2009
Location/Sponsor: Open Farm And Studio - Champlain Islands
Category: Art and Music

About the Event:

The Champlain Islands Open Farm and Studio Tour is a two day event held each year in mid-July that celebrates the agricultural and artistic life of the Champlain Islands. Over thirty farms and studios open their doors and roll back their gates to welcome the public to tour, ask questions, meet their neighbors, and explore working farms and artisan’s studios.

Take a leisurely tour of the islands, enjoying the special beauty of this uniquely lovely part of Vermont, while stopping to visit at any number of the nearly three dozen Open Farm and Studio sites which stretch from one end of the islands to the other. You can take a peek into busy farm life, watch artists and craftspeople at work, pet the animals, purchase fresh farm produce, and pick from a rich and vibrant selection of original fine art and craft. Watch as participants demonstrate and explain the routines and tricks of farm and studio life.

Make a weekend of it; spend a night at any one of the island’s fine campgrounds, bed and breakfasts, inns and motels.

About the Location/Sponsor:
The Open Farm and Studio Tour is organized by a volunteer committee of participants who came together in 2006 to develop and organize the event.  There is no formal organization beyond this group of volunteers and no sponsoring entity, In order to pay for printing of the brochure and to cover other incidental expenses associated with the event, we solicit advertisements in our tour brochure and map and charge farms and studios a small participation fee.
