The Horse Flies and The Lost Fingers

Date: Jul-03-2009 | 06.30
Location/Sponsor: Battery Park - Burlington
Category: Art and Music

About the Event:

Eighties-inspired Gypsy-jazz, from a Francophone band, sung in English? Bien sûr! Québec City-based trio The Lost Fingers honors the spirit of acoustic guitar great Django Reinhardt with virtuosically finger-picked covers of ‘80s pop and dance hall hits that get toes tapping. You haven’t lived until you’ve heard “Pump Up the Jam” or “Billie Jean” à la jazz manouche from one of Québec’s hottest bands. In a separate set alt-Americana sextet The Horse Flies buzz through “a melange of rock, folk, and minimalism . . . that challenges the brain without sacrificing the groove.”—The Chicago Tribune.

Friday July 3, Battery Park, 6:30 p.m. FREE.

Both bands are also musical guests for the Thursday, July 2 Queen City Radio Hour at the Flynn Theater, 8 p.m. Tickets $10 & $20.)
